These cyryptos work like the snowball or pyramid games. As long as there are enough people believing in them, buy and use them, they will grow and the early birds get very rich. But well, real money is also not backed up by gold or goods now, it is only just that you believe that the central bank will have it covered when you need it.
Well, same for raw land, and for lots of commodities, apart from any inherent utility or lack thereof, it’s just about the next guy paying more, so his argument kind of falls flat because sheer speculation has always been seen as legitimate in terms of growing wealth, i.e., investing.
