The MMORPG market may be shrinking, but that in no way means there aren’t MMOs worth playing in 2025. On the contrary, what it means is that the worse MMOs are drying up and fading, while the better MMOs remain relevant – and stand the test of time. With this in mind, welcome to my list of the best free to play MMORPGs that you can play right now in 2025.

  1. Calling Runescape and Albion f2p is a bit disingenuous. There is f2p options but you miss out on most of the game. Especially in the runescape games, the f2p portion is less than 5% of the game and isn’t that enjoyable, it is used more as a tutorial or intro to the game.

  2. I don’t know what happens to this "Best free to play MMORPG"
Are this just that talking recommendations that anyone can search by just typing "Best MMORPG free to play"
    Please answer 🤨🤨
(And Star Wars MMO is needed subscribe to make the rest of the content)

  3. Neverwinter xD dude you are special, i’ve spend more time than i should have tere, mainly because of nostalgia, but there is no physical possibility you can enjoy this game without spending money. Pure p2w experience, unless you enjoy grinding for days, for what you can have with one singuler card swipe

  4. Surprised you didn’t add Black Desert Online. That game occasionally goes F2P and can cost as little as $1-$10 to get into and once you’re in, you can completely play the game for free and not be penalized like crazy for being a F2P player since Pearl Abyss gives away so much free crap that you’d forget you’re a poor bum who can’t find a job. 😂

  5. Hello, very good games selection thank you. But someone can you tell me please from which game is the girl in blue dress from thumbnail? Thanks in advance!

  6. GW2 is great until later game where you get your butt handed to ya if you cant find a person or persons to play with. I have played for years and yet have not been able to keep up with the later content because of this. So great for the solo payer? hmmm….If you are a more experienced solo player who can also find other solo players in late game maybe.

  7. The free part of RuneScape is closer to a demo of the game. Unlike games like WoW or GW2 where the free part is the first few chapters, in RS it gives you a taste of what the game is like, with Dragon Slayer being a capstone to the free experience. And once you buy membership you gain more stuff to do both in the length of what you have done before (quests, bosses, monsters, gear) and the width (new skills, new areas to explore, more low level gear, alternate leveling methods, an entire new continent with its own things to explore).

  8. I’d add Black Desert Online to the list, because it is quite often available for free and it is better than most of the games mentioned.

  9. all (except Throne and Liberty) are way too outdated, sick and tired of these old ones. We need a next generation batch of amazing MMO’s to grind, have fun, community and grind for gear/loot and get unique/strong with unique builds. Nice story to get sucked into. No "everyone looks the same" kind of nonsense and every weapon and armour should look unique. Droprate high end stuff low, and see the stuff actually drop or make a bag and when pickup its a suprice every time. If there are quest items, give us a pickup pet… Create amazing worlds, different level monsters at different areas to work towards, see others leveling when you feel like it (free roaming on a board or whatsoever) all this which makes it rewarding and with leveling system that feels rewarding. Make high end special and worth working towards due the awesomeness you can obtain in terms of looks

  10. WoW classic+ private server is the only mmorpg good to play right now this year. Unfortunately monetized channels would never tell you that. Instead we get a list of the same old games for the past 10 years.

  11. NCSoft seems to be one of the better MMO publishers for long-lasting games 🤔They also own ANet, which thankfully they seem very hands off with

  12. Neverwinter: The game is NOT free. It forces you to pay for the subscription or else you get absolutely CRUSHED by the limitations of the “free to play model” which include A) not being able to walk (your limbs get crushed and need mending by having to stay at a campfire for 60 seconds constantly)
    B) being unable to post on the auction house without a massive posting fee making it almost impossible to sell anything on the auction house. That fee gets taken whether the item sells or not btw.
    C) You can’t reroll rewards from dungeon chests without special tokens only obtained from the sub. (You usually get trash loot unless you re roll, as it is designed that way).

The game also has MASSIVE pay to win. To the point where you can NOT do dungeons unless you buy revival scrolls from the cash shop in order to do endgame content. The game will also force you to buy Battle Passes in order to get special pay to win pets that otherwise do NOT drop in the game any other way.

NOTE: The developers of the game constantly redesign the game, making your gear and everything else about your character useless, in order to sell it back to you later disguised as new content.

Guildwars2: The game is NOT free to play. You need to buy EACH and every expansion, which at the moment will run you around $200 or more for all their content. Other than that, the game is amazing.

  13. By far the best MMORPGs to play in 2025 are (From best to not as good): a)Old School RuneScape b) Regular RuneScape c)World of Warcraft and d)Final Fantasy XIV. If I was just starting out, I would get an account right now with Old School RuneScape Free to play version or Regular RuneScape Free to Play version

  14. i don’t consider GW2 a f2p game, endgame content is paid to unlock, and let’s be honest, every mmorpg 90% of the playerbase is enoying, playing and doing stuff on the endgame.

  15. PoE is not an MMO, you know that, Stix. At least I hope you know that. GW2 can be played for free BUT if GW2 qualifies, so does FFXIV… they’re both free in the same way. I know you know this as well. C’mon Stix, you can do better.

  16. evertime a video is made by anyone for this genre its always the same games look up best mmorpgs from 5 years ago its these exqact same games every time lol

  17. What, no DDO? They just updated all their servers and, I think, Graphics. Free to play, and you earn points that allow you to purchase the microtransaction items., which are things like extra races, classes, and dungeons.
