Damn. Just bought the ROG Strix Scar G16 with RTX 4080 12 GB, i9 14000 HX 24 cores, 32 GB DDR5 Dual channel 5600 Mhz, 2 TB SSD, 2560 x 1600p Mini – LED for 2600$ in my country. Not even the oled version with 4090 and 18 inch screen and it was on special😂. Normally that g16 would have been 3300$. Only got special due to retailers trying to get rid of old 40 series gpus to make space for 50 series stock. Won’t be surprised if those new ones sit at 3600$ for basically the same g16 laptop. Wtf are these prices in SA?

Picked up a used Lenovo legion pro 7i gen 8(13900hx and rtx 4080) for around 1650$ here in Sweden, add 1000$ if you manage to find a new/demo one. Sending in my MSI Raider GE78HX 13VI on warranty repair(issues with the cooling) and didn’t feel like being without a computer for a the time the warranty service takes…

So far my bad experiences with gaming laptops have been dell and Acer all lasted about 2-3 years. And ironically all the MSI laptops have been great to me. That being said I don’t leave the house often with them and I HDMI out to a 4K display. The 3050 laptop I got at launch and it’s around 4 years old and running great. And the 4070 I have is about 2 years old with no issues. Guess time will only tell. My absolute favorite is Asus ROG Strix line of laptops but they’re a bit higher in price. I got my Strix 2070 super laptop back in 2020 and no issues whatsoever.

@jarrod Did you tested G16 extensively? Read these are terrible, loud and throttling like crazy. I assumed Dell makes decent stuff. Having option to buy one for decent price. I would plan to undervolt and restrict wattage with Notebook FanControl as I did on my HP Zbook (undervolting is not allowed unfortunatelly).

Which laptop would be best for total war?
can the human eye even tell a 1080p and 1440p screen apart at 15-16"… im pretty sure on a 16" screen at a 20" viewing distance that 1080p is past your retina’s ability to detect pixels… on a 27" monitor yeah forsure 1440p but thats a massive difference in screen size
does US prices contain VAT and TAXes? This look waaaaay to cheap, in Europe all of these are at least 1.5 to 2 times more expensive, but of course with VAT included.

um nothing is the price you say it is. This video is only 3 months old but every laptop is way more expensive than the categories you put them in. I understand you said prices would change, but they’re not even close, and the website for deals doesn’t have any of these you said? Had me excited for the 4060 for a second until I looked at the real prices. Can’t get one under $1149(not $800) this video useless weather you meant it to be useless in 3 months or not.
ended up getting the deal mentioned on the Legion pro 7 for about 1799USD back in aug 24′, great machine a huge upgrade over my 5year old acer helios that was fraught with build quality issues… i was leaning towards an 18" laptop and was flip flopping between the alienware and lenovo for a week, but i think i had to go used/refurbished or drop from a 4080 to a 4070 to get the alienware
i also really liked that lenovo sold right from their own website and offered a 5year no questions asked warranty that covers even physical damage

Хочу купить себе игровой ноутбук со "средним" железом и разрешением экрана FHD (но готов рассмотреть и 2к).
В выборе колеблюсь между следующими моделями (выбираю в плане стабильности работы, эстетики и цены):
– MSI Sword 17hx (рассматриваю егт в первую очередь. При прочих равных очень нравится подсветка клавы);
– Lenovo Legion 5/7 или pro 5/7 (многие советуют, но в плане эстетики для меня не лидер);
– Acer Predator Helios (ничего про него не знаю, но его хвалил один "комповик", которому доверяю);
– Gigabyte Aorus 17 (bkf/bsf/9kf) (советуют за охлаждение);
– Asus Rog Strix g16/g18 (17 не рассматриваю, т.к. стираются клавиши);
– молодые производители (Machenike, Thunderobot, OSiO, dream machine) – как вариант по цене (но не уверен в этом).
Можно ли остановиться на MSI Sword 17hx в плане охлада, долговечности и стабильной работы (драйверов и пр.)???
Либо лучше выбрать что-то другое?
