I have watched so many videos, yet the old school 90s and early 2000s chairs that were SUPER plush and felt like sitting on a cloud, no longer seem to exist. For instance, the "global concorde executive chair" used by George W. Bush in the Oval Office was one of the most comfortable chairs of all time. Now they’re all mesh that hurt your ass after an hour or two of sitting.

Until I discovered this channel, it never even crossed my mind that ANY desk chair, no matter how well built or packed with features, could be even close to $1000, let alone there being multiple ones for around 2 grand or more! I’ve been sitting in a cheap used desk chair I found for free in my work’s storage basement for nearly 10 years now. The seat "cushion" has been completely flat for years now and feels like sitting directly on a metal frame. I use a separate ortho-cushion, but then my back is too high for the meager lumbar support. As a free chair, it was great for a while, but I’ve definitely needed a new chair for years now, but it’s one of those things I never think about as a worthy expense. With the amount of time I sit down at my computer, I definitely want to invest in a comfortable and ergonomic chair to reduce back, neck, and shoulder pain. I just can’t afford to get many of the nice ones you show. If I could find one that’s under $500 (which still blows my mind that chairs can cost this much or more), I think it’d be worth it. I’m not getting any younger and my back and neck have been complaining for years.
I appreciate your videos … I often search for comfortable, functional, attractive, ergonomic furniture, especially seating, and it is difficult to find … especially if you want it to be "high end" and fashionable in a more formal decor. Desk furniture is of course important, but casual seating for conversation or reading or listening to stereo or viewing video is another category which frequently has limited acceptable choices. In certain high end decors, the appearance of the furniture must be compatible with the overall design of the room, which makes it more difficult to find. Currently I am looking for such seating and have not found it. I had two Herman Miller Eames chairs but they failed in ingress/egress and the amount of decline of the back in the seating position. If you want to be semi-recumbent, it might be fine. Also if the height of the seat is too low, arising from the chair can be difficult if you have perhaps bad knees and need arm assistance to stand up. Many brands have seat height far too low for optimal ingress/egress for adults or geriatrics. I have toyed with the idea of designing my own chair!

Out of the Logitech Embody and Anthros, which do you prefer? I know Anthros promotes sitting correctly so does that benefit beat out the comfort of the Logitech Embody? Can’t decide between these 2 chairs. I’m 5’7-5’8 155 pounds for reference.
The 2 gift people can give their future self is mattress and chair. And I know companies overcharge a bit but it’s so necessary. Once you hit 30s these neck back and shoulder pain are going to cost you physically and mentally more than it would cost you financially in your 20s . I don’t justify costly thing but mattress and chair is just another story.

So I hated the Amia because of the lumbar. I could never get it in the right position. Also had a Haworth fern with no lumbar and didn’t like the no support either. Do you think the Steelcase Leap would be ok? Could I dial the lumbar down enough to barely feel it?

Love your videos! Ive been searching for a chair recently as I’ve just turned 30 wanted to invest in a good chair before I developed any back problems. I work from home, and then game frequently afterwards so i can spend about 12 hrs a day in a chair. I bought the Embody Gaming and the lumbar support on it is killing my lower back. Ive never had pain before, I play recreational sports, workout, and have decent posture but this chair is killing my lower back. I may be overly sensitive to lumbar support. I also like to move around when sitting, sometimes tucking my leg. Any recommendations for a different chair as I continue my search?
For cheap I’d just get a used office chair. Unless you have really specific needs it should be sufficient, and you’ll save a ton of money.
