I really love Lenovo keyboards but I’m not sure if I should get the Yoga or the Legion. I don’t game on big games as much these days. I prefer to play R.E.P.O. or Peak, some small games and I code a lot a watch series, so maybe the Yoga right? The RAM being soldered, should i get the 32 or 64g though?
Hos come Zenbook S14 or Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition didn’t make the cut? They’re just a tad lower budget than the 9i but really offer som super premium feel. Especially with the Zenbook being so light and compact, I think it honestly deserves a spot. Which laptop on the list is taking theirs?

Matthew why don’t OEMs work with AMD to make a more powerful APU like strix halo instead of giving us a very inefficient CPU + GPU combo? It makes sense for desktops because you can swap individual components but everything is soldered down on a laptop so does it not make sense for laptops to go the APU only route given the scarcity of VRAM nowadays??

Best laptop for studies and work under 800 usd?
I’m desperately looking for a high-end Windows 2in1 (bc i’m tired of the Mac+iPad Combo), but all of these OEMs have half-baked offerings, quality control issues, or a compromise somewhere.
Like i can’t get the ProArt PX13 with a 120Hz display, but i can pay double, and get the Flow Z13, and a downgrade to LCD panel and lots of quality control issues.
I’m happy with the scar 18 . Mini led > oled imho . Unless it’s tandem oled but now that’s something that makes me worry about longevity lol .
Also super quiet . Very nicely built and cheaper than the blade 18 by a bunch of. Also who spends 5k dollars to play games at 1080p lol . I’m sorry but on laptop 1440p/1600p vs 1080p/1200p is noticeable . You don’t have to pixel count , just use your eyes!!
I tried the g14 5080 and changed to the g16 5090, a better laptop hands down

I really appreciate your interesting cross-section of gaming and productivity laptops. Not everyone is cross shopping those but some of us are. I ordered a Z13 128GB model (looks like it might be until August on Amazon but at least I got my order in) and some people might think shopping say a tablet like a Z13 vs something like the Legion 7i Pro, then say the Yoga Pro 9i might be an unrealistic comparison for a real shopper, but for me it’s exactly where I was at. Needing a high end CPU for work but still wanting to do at least modest gaming and then valuing high portability but willing to consider sacrificing that for quieter fans, cooler surfaces etc. So your reviews were really valuable at considering most of the exact models I was thinking about.
In the end I chose Z13 for the potential to due larger model AI (something I "might" do for work related stuff but maybe not, so just a really nice bonus) and true top tier CPU at insane portability (I had an 18" 2 year old gaming monster that was just too big for me to use anymore, too much work to even move it around a little bit, just went to my desktop), the biggest downside for me was some of those top OLED screens, especially the tandem one on that Yoga Pro 9i, though also the Legion laptops really are at the top of their game on OLED screens too. In the end I realized there is actually a solid portable 16" OLED monitor that came out 6 months or so ago for not crazy prices, 120hz and peak nits 500 (realistically more like 450-ish at best, but still beating out a loot of the Asus screens peak brightness like the G16, G14, etc) so in my specific setup using a potable monitor to get prettier screen gaming when I want to would work and mitigated the downside of the Z13’s smaller non-OLED screen (plus it adds to a killer dual screen mobile setup for productivity if I need it).
Keep doing what you’re doing though, it’s really helpful to people like me.

Honestly, I feel like the Yoga Pro 9i should’ve came with the option to spec it to a 5070 Ti. Heard that GPU’s great value…
I think the Asus rog strix scar 5080 should have been here instead of the Razer because for a gamer, it is the most well rounded for its non reflective bright screen, cooling, being able to open it, performance with something higher than the 5070ti, build quality, I mean, there really isn’t much wrong with it.

Would have gotten the legion 7i if it came with the 5070ti. Maybe next year and be nice to have the coating the acer has. Considering Asus, but I have always been able to stack coupons on Lenovo website making it way cheaper than I could ever get an Asus laptop.

Have you checked the exchange rate on kidneys lately? I wish it was only 3.5 kidneys for the Legion…. 🤪
Remember that higher tier configurations can be better value even though they cost more. In my market the Zephyrus G16 is 5500 for the 5070ti, then 6000, then 6900. The top end configuration costs 25% more, but the GPU performance is also around 25% higher. Of course with that $1400 you could set up a pretty awesome desktop especially if you just need to upgrade, so it depends on if you want the performance on the go. The 5080-5090 jump also gets you double the memory and storage.
Regarding the Blade 18, Im thinking about buying the last year’s version, with 4090 and 300Hz Qhd+ MiniLed display. How would you compare It to this years model and also maybe with last year Blade 16 with an OLED?
