In my case, I got Spectrum (former TW Cable) but it should work with every greedy Internet provider.
The modem/wifi (all included) that works for SPECTRUM (for other providers, please do your own research). There are other devices, but this is the cheapest one I found that WORKS fine.

I canceled my Cable today and it took 45 minutes and awkward silence after declining the different options they tried too sell me when I was just trying too cancel my service anyways I can just imagine when it comes time to get rid of spectrum all together

I changed over to AT&T Fiber 300. A great service for the price.

I just canceled my spectrum TV app because for years they kept telling me it’s part of a bundle and if I cancel it I will have a bill over a $100 just for internet. I told them to just do it because I’m not paying for something thst I’m not using. You don’t even have basic channels in their lowest tier. The only justification they can tell you for holding on to the TV app are movies. Movies you can get from Netflix, Amazon and Hulu altogether for the price of their TV app. They want to think your stupid! Charge me that much and I’ll be motivated to look elsewhere. They didn’t. Gave a $75 internet service by itself. If my bill goes over $80 I’m leaving spectrum. As simple as that!

I locked into the T-Mobile $50 bucks a month forever. Charter / Spectrum was such a rip off. 100% love the T-Mobile 5G service. We got stuck with Charter for years as they had a monopoly in our rural area. Worst company I have ever had to do deal with.. Horrible customer service. Lies about canceling you account. I cut the cable line into our house and they still said I was using their data. Lies about not getting their crap equipment back. Requiring it be sent from a UPS store. The nearest UPS store is 3 hours from my location. I have a Zebra printer can I just print the label? No you must take it to the UPS store. STFU. Went to a Charter / Spectrum store ( One of the last ones left in our state) and after they said the couldn’t except the box I left it on the counter and walked out. What a scam.

The other device you are trying to talk about is called a router. The router is the device that has the two WI-FI speeds. If you have TVs and computers and other devices in you home that need to be connected to the internet, then you need a router that connects to your devices via Wi-Fi or wired connection or combination of the two. I dropped cable 6 months ago but yesterday to find out more about their Spectrum Internet 100 Plan with a 30 Gigabyte limit for $29.95 and they still want to charge me $30.00 to restart service! I am staying with Metronet for now.
For heaven’s sake just go buy a WiFi router.
People can always use their own Modem & Router. Only difference is that you’re not able to use the landline. For people in California or New York you guys can get house phone for like $4~5 a month.
My modem does up to 2 gigs and my router is WiFi 6.
I have a Gig specifically because we get a lot of people during the weekends.
I recently got a house phone and they sent me a modem with a splitter, I didn’t need a splitter since every room in the house has coax cable only the kitchen doesn’t. So I just connected it and it worked, it sucks that you have to use their own modem but other than that it’s all good service connectivity for me.
People try to have your own equipment, you don’t have to worry about extra fees or nothing. It’s an upfront cost but the equipment can last you years.
Good points. Get better prices by DISCONNECTING cable service! Also we can switch to NEW ACCOUNT with intro rates in another housemates name. I also bought my own modem-router. After a couple years, they gave me base wifi rate and never raised prices. I’ve been at $30 for yrs. 💜. They are making a killing on the uninformed. I have a disabled elderly friend with Spectrum and they are charging $25 just in TAXES. WTF?!? Im looking for alternatives for her. Just want basic Wi-Fi and a ROKU.
I also learned you can get UNLIMITED DATA on your phone for around $30 and get it connected to the TV.
I’ve been with Charter Spectrum internet for years and have very very low rates. $24.99 month going up to $25.99 promotional for 2 years. One can chat as well. I am in South East WA – I think my speed was lowered but I don’t notice a thing (I am very dependant on the internet – ie housebound)
Not sure about Spectrum Mobile (Verizon is buying out tracfone which I lived – roll over minutes – great prices with a variety of plans. Verizon now a monopoly and price will rise I frear!
👍I totally agree with you! Spectrum customer service is trash! If you call them to change/open/close service, they will waste your time trying to sell you crap you don’t need. Just disconnect and open a new account. If you try to change your address on their website, you can’t, they purposely do this to try to make you call them so they can try to sell you crap you don’t need. Since you can’t change your address, their website is trash. The address on my account on their website is from many, many addresses ago that I haven’t lived at for years. Their customer service at the in-person stores are also trash because they too will try to sell you crap you don’t need. Of course there are loopholes around this but I’m not gonna tell spectrum when I already know they’re reading this. I’m always one step ahead of them. Spectrum has annoying employees, Frontier has rotten employees, they both suck, roll the dice and lightspeed to the nearest loophole.
OMG they did the same thing to me. But they didn’t care if I left so I did leave. My bill had gone up to $263, I told them where to go and I left. I bought an antenna from Amazon for $ 50 and I am, $263 lighter and quite happy.

i have a question, been worrying myself sick over this bill cause i went and got a money order for spectrum, sent it through the mail, and it got to them a few days after the due date, well now, i did the same thing and find out from my post office that some idiot put that money order on a different mail truck so now it’s not going to be able to get to spectrum and i was told by the representative of spectrum, that they would be cutting off my phone and net and if i wanted it back, i’d have to pay $200 along with a late fee, and im just wondering how long does it take for them to cut the net and phone off like i could have paid them next month (even if it was $200) but other bills got in the way of me paying for this spectrum bill over the phone.

Where I live Spectrum is the only provider. I pay $90 a month for the most basic internet plan(no cable or phone). Since they have no competition in my area they know they can get away with it. It’s so frustrating.

I pay $29.99 per month for 300 mbps per second, I thing Im paying very cheap. I live in South Carolina. In California I was paying $9.99 for 100 mbps, but I dont think that in California my internet company was Spectrum.
Now they say you need to wait 30 or 60 days to become a "new customer" and they don’t prorate the refund so cancel last day of the month. And when you sign up sign up on the first day of the month

Most co. won’t let you cancel and the next day be considered a new customer you have to wait at least 30 days. What you can do is cancel your service and the next day call back and sign up using a new name they may try and get your social with most companies you’re not required to give it to them so just refuse.

I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE FCC I THEN GOT 4 CALLS FROM THEM WANTING TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT. I also got a letter they lowered my internet rate by $30 per month. There scum bags.
I hate Spectrum, I’m paying $160/month for phone line for the internet service and wifi. If I purchase a modem from the store do I still need a phone line to hook up the modem? I would think so. I’m tired of playing games with them to pay a realistic price. How can I get streaming without all the junk fees ? I bought a regular TV antenna and get about 60 channels over the air for free…great picture. Now I want streaming to go with it and Spectrum is Evil.

Wow internet only $55 per month. Iptv streaming, $6.00 per month. 16,000 chanels to choose from. I have 35 saved as favorites. I also have $150 in a good Winegard non powered antenna which is not needed. I get every major networks service in every usa market.
CUT THAT CABLE CORD. My total communications bill is $125 per month. Cell (unlimited tmobile) WOW internet and streaming iptv.
I also agree with you, however your lucky to have other providers in your area, living in CA 91326 area Spectrum is my only option. They were charging me for the maximum high speed + $ 40 more per month, and I found out my desktop can only expect 100 Mbps and my laptop only 300mbps. When called to request a credit, I was refused, yes they did lower my internet from $119 to 67 per month. Worst company and getting away with it. Paid about $ 50 more a month for more than 4 years and no credit.
I hear good & bad things about every service. I was on U-verse internet for 8 yrs – an old service and even though they don’t charge for the wifi my bill was $80 a month for an old modem. Spectrum with the wifi seems to be the same price at 500mbps. Of course, now I see ATT U-Verse is $55.
They don’t care in some areas like Anaheim, “you want to disconnect, fine go ahead” They are the only one offering cable internet and other options like 5G are crap.

You have to remain disconnected for 30 days to be considered a new customer.
Spectrum customers BEWARE if your experiencing slow speed and you have one of the fastest speeds and then you call them and they send a tech out make to run multiple speed test while they are at your home ,what they do is turn up your speed so when they check it ,it’s back up to speed . Keep checking it you will see it drops back down . They are a bunch of Con artist

Called them today to cancel my tv/cable service. Initially they told me it wasn’t bundled and I should have no problem changing it. Sent me to the cancellation team who told me it WAS bundles and if I changed it my internet bill wouldn’t go down but by about 20 bucks. Told them not to touch it I’ll call back. Call back in two minutes they tell me the same. I told them I would be calling back to cancel EVERYTHING. I called back 2 minutes later, Got sent to a different person on the cancellation team who told me it wasn’t bundled and now I only pay 45 bucks for internet. THEY WILL LIE TO YOU. Keep calling back to find the real MVP that will be truthful. Or tell ’em you gonna cancel it all.
