Great vid, concise and helpful. I noticed the really scammy pricing on some popular ones and started looking around, I was confident in Squarespace for a while with its clean UI & simple pricing that isn’t too high, but suddenly there was news that they’re getting bought by some private equity firm which is apparently bad news.
It seems like most registrars and reviews focus on customer service and cloud services, whereas developer-focused services like Cloudflare and Vercel try to provide simple hassle-free domain services to avoid all those headaches, but that means little to no deep support which may be fine for devs but not for regular users (although lots of developer community channels are full of people that can guide you there as well). Vercel’s prices seem randomly high, some domain names that aren’t premium on other sites are premium-priced there, so Cloudflare might be the way to go if you can configure stuff yourself, otherwise, use the other top recommendations here.
NOTE: WHOIS privacy protection which protects your personal info as the domain owner is not available for certain types of TLD (Top Level Domains) such as most Country Code TLDs − i.e. a .us domain will always leave you exposed on any domain registration − so pick your domains wisely. Individuals get doxxed or get spam calls because of WHOIS entries exposed through country code domains.
